Electronic Arts has further explained and detailed the weapons system and downloadable content for the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company
Many gamers were concerned last week when EA explained the weapons system, which treats weapons as downloadable content which must be paid for before use, to MTV
. Now EA has dished out a few more details on the system.
According to EA the game will have five free downloadable weapons out of the box, while another five will be bundled with the Gold Edition of the game. If you don't want to have the Gold Edition in your collection however then these extra weapons will be available to purchase over XBM or PSN.
EA stands by statements that the new pay-to-play weapons won't unbalance the game in any way and that "more weapons offer players more choices but do not create an advantage/disadvantage for players who do not opt to buy new items.
Hmm - then we have to ask; if you don't get any advantage then why bother to buy the extra weapons at all?
Either way, gamers will have a chance to vote with their wallets when the game launches on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year. The game is currently set for a June release and you can let us know what you think of this DLC system in the forums
